Agenda: Detailed discussions on system planning for the energy transition
Location
Brisbane inner city hotel
Brisbane, Australia
Australia is committed to having 82% renewable energy in its electricity grids by 2030, building a low-emissions energy system for all Australians. Effective planning is a vital aspect of this transition.
The Australian Energy Market Operator's Integrated System Plan (ISP) places Australia at the forefront of system planning globally. The CSIRO plays an integral role in the planning of this future system.
Robust planning processes are essential for ensuring the security, affordability, and reliability of our electricity systems.

More information
This workshop will share Australia's system planning experience and processes and the role of those in ensuring system reliability and security as we transition to higher shares of distributed and variable inverter-based generation such as solar, wind and batteries. Industry experts and researchers will share broad energy system planning methods, covering:
- System security
- Electricity system resilience
- Energy demand forecasting
- Generation capacity planning and scheduling
- Modelling tools.
The workshop will also explore specific planning topics, including:
- Planning for high shares of variable and inverter-based generation
- DER and network planning
- Planning for storage, batteries, and electric vehicles
- Renewable supply to zones and industrial hubs
- Data centre loads and supply.
