CSIRO and the Victorian Government’s Aboriginal Economic Development Group (AEDG) are hosting a one-day workshop for Victorian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses, Traditional Owners and community representatives to explore pathways to commercialise Traditional Knowledge through research and development (R&D), with a particular focus on native botanical extracts and bush medicine.
The workshop will include presentations by curated speakers and a panel discussion comprised of representatives from Indigenous businesses.

Who should attend?
This workshop is designed for Victorian Indigenous businesses, Traditional Owners and community representatives that are interested in exploring pathways for the commercialisation of Traditional Knowledge through R&D only.

- Neane Carter, First Nations Senior Solicitor from Terri Janke and Company, will present on Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP).
- Dr Katherine Locock, Team Leader, Botanical Pharmaceuticals at CSIRO, will discuss the process of engaging in research with an R&D partner and how they can help support product development.
- Jake Berthelot, Associate Director of Business Advisory at First Australians Capital, will discuss investment opportunities available for Indigenous businesses and community groups and how to get investment ready.
- A panel discussion with representatives from Indigenous businesses will discuss their Traditional Knowledge commercialisation journey.
- A tour of R&D facilities at CSIRO Clayton.
