This free webinar series has two sessions.

At the first session, we will:

  • Outline the changes to the Australian Curriculum: Digital Technologies.
  • Drawing from the latest research, discuss factors that impact on engaging young women in digital technologies.
  • Provide an opportunity to answer any questions.

At the second session, we will:

  • Put the research into practice. Showcasing approaches to implement the research findings in the classroom. This will include free resources and lesson plans relevant to Years 5 – 8.
  • Encourage you to bring along your ideas and/or classroom resources. With the support of ACER and CSIRO facilitators (and your fellow teachers), we will workshop these ideas into actionable classroom lessons.
  • Provide details about the many resources available to help you with your future digital technologies classes.
  • Provide an opportunity to answer any questions.

About the program

This is a joint webinar series by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), CSIRO Education & Outreach, and CSIRO’s Young Indigenous Women’s STEM Academy, sponsored by auDA Foundation. ACER will use the findings from their latest research into best-practice for engaging young women in digital technologies, to discuss the implications for the classroom.

The webinar will include resources on the new v9.0 AC: Digital Technologies, factors that impact on engaging young women in digital technologies classes, an exemplar classroom activity and assessment for Year 5-6 and Years 7-8.

The webinar will be recorded and hosted on CSIRO’s website along with the dedicated classroom exemplars.
