Atlas of Living Australia webinar: state and territory biodiversity data systems - recent advances and future directions

Australia is one of the most biologically diverse places on Earth. From our largest states, like Western Australia and New South Wales, to our smallest, Tasmania, each has high levels of regional endemism with species which occur nowhere else.

The conservation agencies in Australia's states and territories manage large biodiversity data holdings for a wide variety of purposes centred upon environmental management and approvals and meeting statutory obligations under the various pieces of legislation in their jurisdictions.

All the states and territories have publicly available atlases of their biodiversity data, and they share versions of this data with the Atlas of Living Australia. Data from states and territories makes up around 20% of the biodiversity data in Australia. It's particularly important for our national understanding of vertebrate animals and vascular plants.

This webinar hosted by the Atlas of Living Australia invites representatives from Dandjoo in Western Australia, NSW BioNet and the Natural Values Atlas in Tasmania to showcase their respective repositories, recent advances and future directions.

This event will be recorded, with the recording made available through ALA channels in the week following the event.

The ALA receives support from the Australian Government through the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) and is hosted by CSIRO.
