A veterinarian by training, Dr Chen has held a range of leadership positions across Singapore's food safety, biosecurity, animal health and welfare sectors including senior roles with the National Parks Board (NParks) and the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore. Her work has focused on strengthening One Health governance, food safety systems, animal health and welfare policies and programmes, while fostering partnerships between government, academia, industry, and international organisations.
Director Jope Davetanivalu
Jope Davetanivalu is the Director of Environmental Governance at the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP), where he leads regional initiatives that strengthen environmental governance, policy development, planning, monitoring, and reporting across Pacific Island countries and territories. Based in Samoa and originally from Fiji, he is a member of SPREP's Senior Leadership Team and works closely with governments, development partners, and regional organisations to address the interconnected challenges of environmental sustainability, climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development.
Prior to joining SPREP, Mr Davetanivalu held senior roles within the Fijian Government, including leadership positions in environmental management and public policy. Over more than a decade with SPREP, he has been a strong advocate for integrated approaches to environmental and public health challenges, helping Pacific nations strengthen environmental assessment, governance frameworks, and sustainable development practices.
