Join CSIRO and the Australian Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water for a showcase of the science, tools and approaches developed through the Ramsar Hub and related climate-adaptation work.

We'll explore what we've built together, how it can support decisions, and where it could take us next.

About the event

The Ramsar Portfolio Showcase will bring together Australian Government agencies and partners to explore practical ways to make the best available science easier to use in Ramsar wetlands and other important wetland policy, planning and management.

Rather than a series of technical presentations, the session will focus on what the Ramsar Hub partnership has changed and what people can do differently as a result. It will showcase work to make Ramsar information more accessible and consistent, climate risk more manageable, and science easier to use in practice.

The showcase will conclude with a facilitated discussion exploring future needs and gaps, including opportunities to use existing capabilities now, strengthen or connect them, and identify areas for further exploration.

Facilitator and presenters

The showcase will be facilitated by Dr Siwan Lovett from the Australian River Restoration Centre, with presentations from CSIRO scientists Dr Tanya Doody, Dr Ashmita Sengupta and Dr Rebecca Doble.

Together, the presentations will explore how the science, tools and approaches developed through the Ramsar Hub and related projects can support Ramsar wetland policy, planning and management.

What we'll cover

Participants will hear about:

  • Making Ramsar information more accessible and consistent, including support for Ramsar Information Sheets, national datasets and species information.
  • Making climate risk more manageable, from understanding vulnerability and impact pathways to developing climate-ready objectives and practical adaptation choices.
  • Making science easier to use, through tools, guidance, decision-support capability, and national and jurisdictional support.
  • Future needs and gaps, with an interactive discussion about where these capabilities can be used, strengthened, connected or extended.

In-person attendance is limited to 45 people due to room capacity, so we encourage you to register early if you'd like to join us at CSIRO Black Mountain. Online attendance is not limited.
