What to expect:
Build relationships, and come away with the information and understanding required for successful and productive voyage planning.
We hope that as an outcome of the day:
Chief Scientists will have an awareness and understanding of:
- The voyage planning process
- MNF requirements, expectations and limitations
- MNF teams, what they do, and how they can support the Chief Scientist
- Any other key information provided by the MNF or sought by the Chief Scientist
MNF Teams will:
- Meet the Chief Scientists, develop working relationships, and understand the key science drivers of each voyage
- Gain an enhanced understanding for how the MNF team can support achievement of a successful voyage
- Receive key information early in the voyage planning process, including:
- Operational objectives
- How Chief Scientists propose to achieve their objectives (key activities)
- Equipment/capability requirements
- Awareness of activities that may be culturally sensitive or cause psychosocial distress
- Any key issues or opportunities for MNF to be aware of for voyage preparation and planning
Information shared in the auditorium should be kept relevant to the whole room. There will be opportunities during morning tea, lunch and after the symposium to ask and answer detailed questions with individual teams.
