This 94-metre super science ship is packed with state-of-the-art equipment to enable vital ocean and atmospheric research for Australia. RV Investigator is a national workhorse for science and can travel over 10,000 nautical miles on a single voyage, carrying up to 60 scientists, technicians and crew on incredible voyages of exploration and discovery. The vessel delivers geoscience, atmospheric, biological, oceanographic and underwater cultural heritage research from the equator to the Antarctic ice-edge.

RV Investigator is part of the Marine National Facility, national collaborative research infrastructure funded by the Australian Government through the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy, and operated by CSIRO on behalf of the nation.
