Join this live training session for an interactive Q&A on observing with Murriyang, the 64m Parkes Radio Telescope. Participation in this training is a requirement to become a certified observer with the telescope. The training aims to equip you with the basic knowledge to carry out observations, with detailed support provided via your allocated Observing Expert (OE).

More information

Prior to joining the session, it is necessary that you:

  • Have been assigned a valid Murriyang observation project code and have applied for an ATNF ident
  • Review Chapters 1-3 of the Users Guide
  • Have successfully logged in to PORTAL, FROG & DHAGU?
  • Set up SSH tunnel to Joffrey:1 and install a VNC client
  • [optional] Create a DHAGU? parameter set to be used for a practice setup

Please ensure you have completed the above steps, otherwise you will not be able to be certified as an observer. Time-permitting, you may be able to carry out a practice setup using a schedule file of your choice.

This meeting will be held using Microsoft Teams. Please insure you have a stable internet connection. We also request that the email address used for registration is accurate and can be used to reach you should it be necessary.
