A webinar and forum for biosecurity and plant industry stakeholders

Find out how we are advancing the science of risk management to grow market access for Australia’s horticulture sector

This forum is for anyone with an interest in shaping horticulture and plant industry biosecurity and access to domestic and export markets.

Safe Trade is a national project supported by Hort Innovation that aims to transform the way trade-related plant biosecurity risks are assessed and managed in Australia.

The project is a unique partnership between CSIRO, all State Governments, the Northern Territory Government, the Commonwealth Government and the horticulture industry. Together we are developing innovative scientific methods, models and tools to inform evidence-based risk assessment and mitigation, and to enable new ways of utilising data to enhance biosecurity and market access.

We invite you to join us for the 2024 Safe Trade showcase to hear about our progress and share your perspectives.

Our program includes:

  • our work to advance the science of risk management to support horticulture industry access to domestic and export markets
  • Progress towards domestic pest risk analysis tools that enable harmonised requirements between states/territories following new incursions
  • a workshop to gather your ideas for building a more effective system to manage the biosecurity risks of inter-state trade for fresh produce – a system better able to recognise commercial practices and technologies, harness all available data sources, better match regulatory requirements to risks, and minimise the spread of new pests and pathogens while limiting disruptions to trade.
