The Advanced Materials Cross-Cutting Capability is pleased to host its first Community of Practice event with the CSIRO Hydrogen Industry Mission. Hydrogen energy is a global hot topic – a national priority for Australia and a fast moving area technically. The goal of the Hydrogen Industry Mission is to help develop a globally competitive Australian hydrogen industry in 2030 by lowering the cost of clean hydrogen to under $2 per kilogram. In order to achieve this goal, there are many R&D challenges to solve, many of which require materials science. This event aims to explore the connections between the Mission and materials science, through a mixed format designed to encourage participation and interaction.

The event will start with a brief overview of opportunities for materials science in hydrogen industry development, followed by three science speakers outlining their area of hydrogen research and where materials science has or could contribute. These brief talks will be followed by a short panel Q&A session with all speakers before finishing with informal breakout groups to enable all participants to connect and share thoughts raised by the speakers.

Note: Registration to this event is only open to CSIRO personnel.
