Kirsten Rose, Executive Director, Future Industries, CSIRO
Kirsten is a member of the CSIRO Executive Team leading a research portfolio comprising the Agriculture and Food, Health and Biosecurity, Manufacturing, and Services.
A respected leader in technology and innovation, Kirsten’s career spans 30 years in the US, UK and Australia. Prior to joining CSIRO, she was Head of Innovation, Sustainable Operations at BHP, where she had global responsibility for bringing together innovation and technology to drive material improvements in key sustainability-related challenges.
Lou Fabri, Director of Cell culture and Purification. RGPD, CSL
Lou’s experience in academia and industry spans 30+ years, beginning in protein chemistry labs at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research.
Originally joining CSL as head of a purification laboratory that was responsible for producing approximately 1,500 proteins per year, Lou more recently moved to CSL Product Development to lead Cell Culture and Purification. There he supports an exceptional team producing pharmaceuticals - from research and their development as drug substances, through to launch. His work contributes to the continued development of CSL’s innovation platform to meet its 2030 objectives.
Sally-Ann Williams, CEO, Cicada Innovations
Sally-Ann leads Australia’s pioneering deep tech incubator, Cicada Innovations, which has nurtured hundreds of visionary deep tech innovators to validate, commercialise and scale high impact technologies globally across MedTech, HealthTech, AgTech, FoodTech, Clean Energy, AI, Manufacturing 4.0 and more.
Prior to joining Cicada Innovations, she spent over 12 years at Google as an Executive Program Manager on the engineering team leading work on R&D collaborations with universities, startup and entrepreneurship engagement and pioneering work on CS and STEM education including building world first collaborations delivering national transformation.
Sally-Ann has been involved in driving national engagement and change strategies in innovation and entrepreneurship, Computer Science and STEM education as a member of the COAG STEM Partnership Forum and contributed to the foundation of StartupAUS, a non-profit with a mission to transform Australia through technology entrepreneurship.
Grahame Grieve, Product Director "FHIR", HL7
Grahame Grieve is HL7's Product Director for "FHIR" - the leading healthcare data exchange standard of the future. Grahame has a background in laboratory medicine, software vendor development, clinical research, open source development and has also conceived, developed and sold interoperability and clinical document solutions and products in the Australian market and around the world. Grahame has worked to develop standards and solutions with several US vendor consortiums, and the national programs of Canada, England, Singapore, and Australia.
James Deverell, Director, CSIRO Futures
James and his team build on CSIRO’s deep research expertise to help customers create evidence-based strategies for growth, harnessing technology and innovation. He brings 25 years of experience to customers, having worked with government and Global 2000 commercial clients across four continents in a diverse range of industries including energy, resources, financial services, manufacturing, and high-tech.
At CSIRO James has led a number of national-scale initiatives, including the Australian National Outlook 2019, a multi-year project that combined input from more than 50 senior Australian leaders with CSIRO’s integrated modelling to identify the key drivers that will underpin Australia’s future. He has also overseen the development of CSIRO’s industry roadmaps series, including the National Hydrogen Roadmap, the Space Industry Roadmap, and the Low Emissions Technology Roadmap.
