How can we create a tropical city that is cool, thriving, smart and sustainable?

You’re invited to the inaugural science symposium, hosted by the Darwin Living Lab. This year’s theme is Urban Design and Heat Mitigation in the Tropics.

This December, leading experts from Australia and overseas will converge with the Darwin community and its practitioners. Attendees will exchange practical examples of, and scientific insights into, heat mitigation and climate-appropriate design for the dry tropics. We're inviting anyone interested in heat mitigation and urban design; from builders, architects, researchers, policy makers, developers, engineers, urban planners and other practitioners in related fields

The Darwin Living Lab

An Urban Living Lab is a place where researchers, industry, government, regulators, developers and the community can all work together to improve our cities in the future.

Lead by the CSIRO, the Darwin Living Lab is a ten-year collaboration between CSIRO, Federal, Territory and Local governments and the Darwin community. Together, we will test, monitor and support new ways to improve Darwin’s liveability, sustainability and resilience.

Why? We want to inform future development in Darwin, and to share this knowledge and expertise with other tropical cities around the world. We will do this, in part, through an annual symposium.

Refreshments and food are included (please specify dietary needs when registering).

Please dress in a relaxed and comfortable manner.

The Darwin Living Lab was announced as part of the Darwin City Deal. It is a partnership between the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Cities and Regional Development, the Northern Territory Government and the City of Darwin.

Symposium Accommodation has been negotiated at a special rate, and is available at the Adina Apartment Hotel Darwin: Book Now - Promo code: CSIRO20
