Australian Institute of Physics

The Australian Institute of Physics’ 2017 Industry Day will continue the theme of supporting deep-tech start-ups. It is an exciting time with many tech start-ups forming, just a few of whom will describe their markets, inventions and journeys during at the Industry Day.

Several start-ups co-located at CSIRO Lindfield will present including three medtech companies (Oncosil, Visospace & Medlogical) from within Fledge, the on-site medical device incubator. Fluro4 will present progress in their fluorescence imaging development.

From the university sector, two exciting start-ups presenting will be Gelion, a battery technology from Sydney University and Modular Photonics from Macquarie University.

Returning for a second year, Blackbird Ventures will offer a funders perspective and cover initiatives to encourage women leaders in start-ups.

Transforming a brilliant technical invention into a successful business is an exciting and challenging journey. Speakers will relate their experiences - past and continuing - in their adventures taking device-based technology products into the market. We will also hear from sources of assistance - both investment and technical. If you are in a tech start-up, have an interest in them or in participating in one, helping one or starting one, this event is for you!

CSIRO has developed its Lindfield site as a start-up friendly hub, with 15 companies and >100 site inductees. The NSW Department of Industry supported the construction of our tech device Maker Space and a vibrant community has developed – visit and see!
