The International School on Research Impact Assessment (ISRIA) was founded in 2013 and aims to foster global collaboration for excellence and innovation in research.

With this view, the organisers annually host a ‘summer school’ throughout the world.

So far the school has successfully established a vibrant and global community of practice with participants from more than 20 countries.

This year, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), will host the event in Melbourne, Australia.

About the course

Audience and schedule

It is a four and half day intensive ‘summer school’ that builds capacity through mutual learning. The objectives are to:

  • Empower participants to plan, assess, and manage research impact assessments with the aim of optimising returns
  • Advance participant knowledge about existing frameworks, tools and approaches
  • Facilitate collaborative capacity, networks and team building among a generation of research and development decision-makers

The course is facilitated by faculty members and guest lecturers who are international experts in research impact assessment.

The course is aimed at those in basic and applied research, program management, evaluation, knowledge translation, policy and decision-making in areas such as

  • Research and development for government
  • Research funding organisations
  • Academia
  • Not-for-profits
  • Industry (Energy, Health, Environment etc.)

The course is aimed at being very participatory and providing multiple opportunities for rich panel discussions and practical application of all the theory provided. Feedback from past years indicates attendees benefit the most while working in a diverse intake.  To ensure this, enrolment for the course has been made a two-step process:

  • Expression of interest: You can express your interest in attending the course by clicking on the link below and answering a few questions on your background. All responses will be assessed by the Organising Committee and used to select a small but diverse group of research impact assessment professionals
  • Payment of fees upon confirmation:  If successful, you will receive a notification email offering you a place at the school. You will have two weeks to pay for the course and confirm your place. Unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email during the same time period

Please note all the information received from you will be treated in confidence.

Early bird registration (Till 30 Jun ‘16) : $2,749 AUD

Standard registration : $3,079 AUD

The fee will cover:

  • The five day course
  • All course materials
  • A welcome dinner and other special events
  • Morning/afternoon teas and lunches for all five days of the course

Cancellation policy
Delegates who find themselves unable to attend the course are welcome to nominate a substitute. Any transfer or cancellation must be in writing to the Organizing Committee. Cancellations prior to 30 June 2016 will incur an administration fee of AUD$450. After that date, no refund will be given.

The ISRIA Organising Committee reserves the right to change course, the right to cancel, delete, modify or alter items from the course or to delete, modify or alter any aspect of the course timetabling and delivery at their sole discretion and without notice. Neither the host organisation nor the meeting organisers or their contractors will accept any liability for any loss or inconvenience caused to any party consequent to such changes.

Intention to photograph/record
ISRIA reserves the right to use photographs & video footage, taken at any stage throughout the course, for the purposes of advertising and promoting its events. If you do not wish to comply with this policy, you must notify the ISRIA team prior to the event.
